About the Course

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.

This one-day course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills, providing you with the skills to ensure a safe working environment.

The qualification is valid for three years, making it suitable for all industries and enabling you to meet HSE requirements.

The Emergency First Aid at Work course is six hours and can be delivered in one day or split into smaller sessions over a four week period from the start of the course. The course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, including practical assessment on CPR and first aid.

The award is valid for three years as of the date of assessment.

Course Content

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • How to manage a casualty who is in shock
  • How to assess an incident
  • How to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • How to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • How to manage a casualty with external bleeding

First Aid at Work (FAW) – 3 Day Course £200 p.p.

About the Course

The  First Aid at Work Qualification covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills, equipping the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illness.

This three-day course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills, providing you with the skills to ensure a safe working environment.

The qualification is valid for three years, making it suitable for all industries and enabling you to meet HSE requirements.

The First Aid at Work course is 18 hours and can be delivered over three consecutive days or can be split into smaller sessions and delivered over a 10 week period from the start of the course.

The course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as a practical assessment on CPR and first aid.

Course Content

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • How to manage a casualty who is in shock
  • How to assess an incident
  • How to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • How to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • How to manage a casualty with external bleeding
  • How to conduct a secondary survey
  • How to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
  • How to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
  • How to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • How to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
  • How to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
  • How to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
  • How to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
  • How to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis

Assessment

First Aid at Work is Trainer Assessed throughout the course and the assessment should determine a learner’s ability to act safely, promptly and effectively when an emergency occurs at work and to deal with a casualty. All Assessment Criteria in the units must be achieved.

Renewal

In order to re-qualify learners must be assessed against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the unit. The delivery time can be adjusted based on current HSE guidance for requalification (2 days). It is considered appropriate to reduce the time by 6 hours for re-qualification to 12 hours.

About the Course

Our first aid at work requalification course covers the course content specified in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and follows the Resus council (UK) Guidelines.

Training is led by Experienced tutors. All candidates are issued with gloves, CPR face shields and manuals.

The course includes dealing with an emergency, assessing and monitoring a casualty, first aid protocol, reporting of injuries and illnesses.

Prerequisite

Candidates must hold a valid FAW certificate.

Qualification Certificate

On successful completion of the course you will receive an award in First Aid at Work, valid for 3 years.

Paediatric First Aid (PFA) – 2 Day Course £100 p.p.

The First Aid needs of children vary from those of adults.

This course is for anyone over the age of 16 that comes into contact with or works with infants and children.

This comprehensive course equips the first aider to administer First Aid to children and infants and covers a

Wide range of CPR and First Aid skills.

On completion, candidates will obtain a qualification in Paediatric First Aid.

The Paediatric First Aid covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills, equipping the first-aider to administer first aid to children and infants.

This two-day course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills related to children, providing you with the skills to ensure a safe environment for children and infants.

The qualification is valid for three years.

Paediatric First Aid is 12 hours and can be delivered over two days or can be split into smaller sessions and delivered over a 7 week period from the start of the course.

The course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as a practical assessment on CPR and first aid.

Course Content

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Understanding the role of the paediatric first aider
  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock
  • How to assess an emergency situation and act safely and effectively
  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction
  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is wounded and bleeding
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a suspected fracture and a dislocation
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a head, a neck and a back injury
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has been bitten or stung

Renewal

In order to re-qualify, learners must be assessed against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the unit. For Paediatric First Aid this will be the same as the initial course of 12 hours.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) – 4 hour Course £50 p.p.

Defibrillators (AEDs) have been proven to significantly increase /the chances of survival in cases of cardiac arrest.
This course teaches candidates how to give effective CPR and use an AED to feel confident if an emergency occurs.

About the Course

AED is part of the guidelines for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in the UK and Europe and a vital part of improving the chance of survival in cases of cardiac arrest, in some cases up to 75%.

We offer a standalone AED course and the opportunity to add AED qualification to several of our qualification courses.

The Award in Automated External Defibrillator- AED enables someone to give CPR and use an AED. The qualification is valid for two years.

The Automated External Defibrillator course is four hours and is designed to be delivered in one day. The course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, including practical assessment on CPR and AED.

  • Safety consideration with an AED 

Assessment

Automated External Defibrillator is Trainer Assessed throughout the course and the assessment should determine a candidate’s ability to act safely, promptly and effectively to deal with a casualty suffering a cardiac arrest.

Renewal

In order to re-qualify candidates must complete the training and assessment again.
